It can be hard to get children to practice yoga. Especially with so many distractions (such as video games) But by introducing different themes into their yoga practice it adds creativity to their practice. Some suggestions of themes that may interest children are as follows:
- Exploring every part of the yoga mat with different positions turning it into a game. Try facing different directions or modifying poses.
- Give children “free” yoga time. let them try and make up new poses on their mats for a few minutes.
- Have children play follow the leader and take turns choosing which pose everyone should do.
By turning yoga into a “game” children may be more interested in practicing yoga. Adding a theme adds a huge boost of creativity as well as allowing children to explore different postures.
